Stylish yet relaxed rooftop bar, overlooking the city skyline.

Sky on 20 is a really nice and chill Bangkok sky lounge, offering amazing 270 degree views over the city skyline. The roof terrace is located at the 26th floor of the luxurious hotel Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20.

The Sky on 20 rooftop bar offers a large drinking menu including fantastic cocktails in a wide variety, with an exciting setting of "bubble drinks", with prosecco as base. Like the 'Red Hot Lover', made on gin, strawberry, vanilla and prosecco.

There is also a wide range of wine and craft beers, and for the hungry ones, a smaller bar menu to order food from. Some delicious snacks that goes very well with the drinks, like Mediterranean Pizza’s and Crab Mayonnaise Bruschetta.

The terrace feels lika a small roof garden and the atmosphere is usually pleasant and relaxing lounge vibes. Most days of the week there’s a live DJ performing to the magical views of Bangkok. On some occasions, the DJ is replaced by a live band.

If you time both sunset and happy hour between 5-7pm, Sky on 20 at Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 is one of the best rooftop bars in Bangkok for an after work / after sightseeing. Walk-ins are more than welcome, but reservations are recommended to get a good table. The terrace can also be reserved for private events.

Tip: Apart from the great rooftop, Novotel Bangkok Sukhumvit 20 is also a superb choice to stay at, with both great location and a lovely rooftop pool on the 9th floor.

A rooftop cocktail bar serving creative mixology, a variety of high-end spirits and skyline views.

1826 Mixology & Rooftop Bar is a fantastic cocktail bar perched on top of the Rembrandt Hotel & Suites Bangkok in central Bangkok. While the hotel has been around for a long time, the rooftop bar is quite a new addition to the Bangkok rooftop scene.

Modern, sophisticated and stylish in decor, the al fresco terrace comes with a lovely view over the Bangkok skyline.

The name of the bar tells you two things: first the location, Soi 18 and floor 26, and second that this is a rooftop bar where you can expect creative mixology. With storytelling cocktails made from fresh ingredients, there are creations like 'The Hanging Garden of Kurseong' (presented in a hanging woven basket) and 'The Undecided' (that actually comes with a QR code to scan recipe). Equally pleasing for the eye as for the taste buds.

The fantastic cocktails are complemented with a variety of high-end spirits and fusion bar bites inspired by the Rembrandt Hotel's Mexican, Indian and Italian restaurants.

Calm, friendly and relaxing in atmosphere, the 1826 Mixology & Rooftop Bar is open nightly, and like many other rooftops, it is recommended to come here early. Mostly for the fantastic sunset views on display, but also for the 'Sundowner's at 1826' (17.00-18.26), with good deals on drinks.

But visit 1826 rooftop bar at anytime and you are sure to be in for a great and tasty evening, and walk away with some very Instagram-friendly pictures on cocktails in your phone.

A new Chinese restaurant in Surawong serving delectable Cantonese and Shanghainese fare
We sometimes find it ridiculous that, despite the fact that one-third (or even half) of the Bangkok population is Thai-Chinese, there are very few new Chinese restaurant openings, especially when compared to Western ones. There are even less for those grand, fine-dining types. Which is why were pretty stoked about Yao, the new Chinese restaurant and bar that crowns the newly opened Marriott Hotel on Surawong Road.
Set on the 32nd floor of the hotel tower, the restaurant provides commanding views of downtown Bangkok and the Chao Phraya River. Modern Shanghai-inspired decor in dark, seductive hues, along with elaborate Chinese ornaments and brass sculptures reflect the dining room’s name, which means “glory” in Mandarin. There are five rooms for private gatherings, with the biggest one able to fit up to 20 people.

Yao prides itself on being one of the few diners in Bangkok to offer Shanghainese cuisine along with Cantonese delicacies—all of which are churned out by a kitchen team led by Chinese chefs. Lunch offers a selection of tasty and sizeable dim sum bites such as har gow and siu mai, as well as xiao long bao, which is offered in both the traditional steamed way and in the fried version—the latter of which is a rare Shanghainese dish you may not find elsewhere. These bites go particularly well with Yao’s housemade chili sauce,
The dinner menu gets fancier. Start off with a platter of nine Chinese snacks (B488) before moving on to savory favorites like fried green beans with dried tofu (B328), a simple dish that tastes darn good, and lobster in XO fried river prawn with oolong tea sauce (B1,588). Order some hand-pulled noodles if you want to inject a bit of fun to your meal. Upon order, the Chinese chef will rush to your table to show off his noodle-pulling magic. The noodles then go back to the kitchen and return spicy gravy (B458). Don’t forget to pair you dishes with fine tea (to helps cut through the grease), and end your meal with your choice of Chinese desserts.
Yao may not wow you with eye-popping, elaborately presented dishes, but it does offer everything you would want for a decent Chinese meal. If you have more time to hang around, go up to Yao Rooftop, the restaurant’s bar, for Shanghaiinspired drinks paired with gorgeous views.

This laidback, late-night bar is split over three rickety levels of an old corner townhouse where the owner (Bangkok nightlife legend and Q Bar founder David Jacobson) displays his prized collection of contemporary art amid crumbling rooms stripped back to the brick-work.

Book in advance if you want to nab a seat with a view on the rooftop terrace. Or head downstairs to knock back shots of absinthe (the house specialty, B350-700) and mingle with a hard-drinking after-work crowd of expats and locals.

Smalls interieur and design is a mix of French, Thai and Japanese influences. The venue features 3 levels, including a second floor with balcony and an open-air deck on the third floor. The menu features a variety of snacks ideal to be paired with wine or beer, an extensive list of signature cocktails and a selection of Absinthe, served in traditional fashion. Smalls is closed on Tuesdays.

The team behind Bangkok’s famous Q Bar opened this slightly more modest venue in 2014; since then, Smalls has been making waves across the city’s expat community as the place in Sathorn to come for live music and inventive cocktails.
Located on the increasingly popular Soi Suan Plu, Smalls is dark, broody and welcomes a young and trendy crowd who come for the weekly line up of live jazz, world music and DJ sets. Among a long list of cocktails and local beers you’ll find absinthe by the glass – a bit of a rarity for Bangkok – and there’s also a cute second level balcony overlooking the bustling Suan Plu neighborhood.

Tawandang Brew House

3396a0cd-1165-4dd6-90c8-6c12c7d942f5.jpg

Tawandang has a seating capacity of 1,600 and you'll be hard pushed to find a bigger drinking venue in Bangkok than this German beer hall. It presents its own brand of ‘musical theatre’. With live entertainment that includes singing, dancing and instrumentals, the stage show is a visual extravaganza well worth seeing.
Tawandang takes its cue from a traditional German brewery while ironically attracting a predominantly Thai audience. The food here, (pork knuckles and som-tam come highly recommended) consists of Thai snacks that go down particularly well with a beer or two. Open 7 nights a week, the place attracts a regular crowd throughout the week and whether you venture in on a Wednesday or a Saturday evening you will find the venue packed with people enjoying themselves. The general format is to eat, drink and dance, and in this respect, you can’t really go wrong with a night out at Tawandang.

Location: 462 61 Rama III Rd, Chong Nonsi, Yan Nawa, Bangkok 10120, Thailand
Open: Daily from 5pm to 1am
Phone: +66 (0)2 678 1114

The Roof @ 38 at Mode Sathorn Hotel

The Roof @38th Bar at Mode Sathorn Hotel is on the 38th floor of the fashionable hotel, easily identifiable by its mauve color. Once there, you're way above the traffic jams and the little annoyances of big city life. The rooftop is entirely open-sky so not really an option on rainy days but the feeling of being high up in the air is real and impressive. You can walk around the entire circumference of the tower and discover a superb 360 view of this part of Bangkok.
On the south side, the most popular one as it faces the sunset, you can sit in very comfortable sofas with a glass of wine or a fancy cocktail, stare at famous Sky Bar standing nearby and watch how the crowds are squeezing themselves without seats on the very edge of Lebua Tower.
